Artist's Talks: Peter Wolland

This week's artist talk was given by Peter Wolland, one of the tutors of the fine art course here at the University of Sunderland (unfortunately I do not have any images of the work shown). Peter's works were a true variety of experimentation of all sorts of mediums, surfaces, scales and sizes. His earlier works were my particular favourites, huge paintings on several massive canvases - often spread across two walls - of faces painted in colour onto a contrasting background. He told us his main interest was with landscape, and this was apparent throughout his whole career as an artist. His most recent works were A4 sized canvases decorated with paint, strips of tape and shaped cardboard cut outs all relating to landscapes/things that stood out or interested him in his life. These were pretty interesting too, although not particularly my favourite of his works.
