Charcoal on Paper

I chose the sketch I found most interesting from the previous post and wanted to make a quick A3 sketch of it. I decided to use charcoal as it allowed me to shade and mark the paper faster than I could with a pen; and for a change of medium.

I think the effect I wanted has worked rather well within this piece as the charcoal gives an interesting appeal to the image. However, overall this piece didn't really work for me. I decided a self portrait would probably work better as I may be able to add more emotion to my work this way.
